Camera Shy Photographs

 Welcomes You

Now let's meet the photographer

Meet the photographer

My name is Oliver. I was born in Tempe Arizona and have grown up here in Mesa since I was about 6 years old. Photography has always been a part of my life as my mom made it a point to always have her disposable cameras with her wherever she went. She always took amazing photos that even when I look back at them today, I'm filling with joy as I feel like I'm reliving these memories. We have always had photo albums filled to the brim with meaningful pictures that she always seemed to take at the right moment. As my family and friends know I suffer from childhood amnesia, so I unfortunately cannot recall most of my childhood. However, the pictures my mom used to take have held a close place in my heart and I always love hearing the stories behind each photograph. In my youth I started to take pictures of others; however I was extremely camera shy, which I think I got from my mother. I later decided to challenge myself by taking selfies and not letting myself delete them. I'm sure this doesn't sound too rough as I didn't post them anyways. But it was my first step towards coming out of my shell. Since then I've tried to help as many friends and family as I could with not being as camera shy.
I started officially doing photography in highschool, but I know I still have a long way to go. I have not been a photographer for too long; however I love gaining new experiences and tricks during every session. When I started doing photography, all I had was the camera on my phone. I eventually took a couple classes in highschool to learn how to edit pictures as well as learn all sorts of new techniques. I started Camera Shy Photographs in the summer of 2018 as soon as I graduated.
Now, I'm sure you've noticed I have a returning client who is featured throughout my website, and that would be my younger sister. She's been helping me learn ways to pose people comfortably while still looking great! She does occasionally still come with me to my sessions to help my clients feel more comfortable with the more silly/awkward feeling poses. I don't think I'd be where I am now without her. I do also occasionally have my youngest sister join sessions as shes an aspiring photographer as well. I guess it runs in the family. I do always check with clients before having my sisters join as I don't want my clients to feel uncomfortable in any way.

I do try to keep my prices as low as possible, as I understand I am by no means an expert. I also try to keep them low due to knowing some people may not be able to afford other higher end photographers. I understand the feeling of wanting to hire a photographer for a special moment, memory, or even for a simple celebration, and not being able to afford it. I've designed 6 different packages to try to cater to as many situations as possible. Though I know it may not be as personalized, so I do also include an A La Carte secction to help make these sessions even more unique. I am also more than happy to provide a personalized quote if any clients are interested in making their own session package.
Everything being said, I love That my hobby has been able to become a career. I hope that someday in the future I'll be able to open a studio, and hire on a team to expand Camera Shy Photographs. I hope to make every client smile whenever they look back at our photos and will cherish the memories I was able to help capture.
